I’ve finally managed to put together a patch for LackeyCCG, which makes the game playable online, for free.
Here are some screenshots:
Notice
Please keep in mind that this will be of no use to you if you actually intend to play the full game since a) the rules for this game don’t exist yet and b) all cards are not included (yet) in the patch.
This patch is intended only as a proof of concept and it’s primary purpose is to aid whoever is interested in developing rules for WT. Since LackeyCCG is like a virtual table, it really doesn’t enforce any rules at all, making it easy to play the game however you feel like, and in effect it helps the development process.
Get it
To get the patch you need only follow these simple steps:
- Install LackeyCCG. It runs non Windows & OS X, as well as in Linux under Wine.
- Run LackeyCCG.
- Enter Preferences.
- Auto-update >> Update from URL >> http://chaosrealm.net/wtactics/lackeyccg/updatelist.txt
- Once it has finished updating, exit LackeyCCG, and then start it up again.
- To get the most recent card images you can either a) open Preferences and press the “download missing images”-button or b) start using the deck editor – it will download each card as you use it.
Update it
Whenever huge enough and important updates are made to the patch, and there will be soon enough, we will write about it on the site. To then update the patch you have to 1) erase the whole patch from your LackeyCCG-directory (i.e. /LackeyCCG/plugins/WTactics) and then 2) repeat the process above.
In the future update will be a lot smoother using Lackeys built-in checksum system, but for now that’s a waste of time and this is the way to go.

I have a game and game system that I’m working on. The game is Mahoujo, it’s a magical girl CCG. I’ve been coming at this from the opposite direction (rules first, then art).
If you are interested we could talk about how well suited (or not) the Mahoujo game engine would be for your game. Drop me an E-mail and we can do a quick compatibility check (Mahoujo’s engine is well suited for dynamic win conditions and hero centric play), discuss IP issues (I’m not trying to make profit but I’m also not interested in using GPL at this time), and then if both of those are green I can work with you on implementing Mahoujo’s game engine with the particular flavor of your universe.

I just noticed and read the FAQ. I don’t feel that my game system would be a good choice upon further comprehension.
Sorry. You can let me know if you’re still interested and I’ll explain why I don’t think it’d be a good choice.

Thanks for sharing John.
Read all the rules I could find on your site. It sounds exciting, but you’re probably right that it would be hard to make it work with the artwork we have since we only have art of units only.
Trinkets, magic etc which you use could perhaps be converted into a card types called “reinforecement” / “partners” etc, which could actually use creature art and still seem reasonable.
My largest worry was the resource handling: Personally I don’t believe a system that uses resource cards is a good idea. In such cases it’s often better to let the player use _any_ (or almost any) card as a resource card by simply putting it into play face down.

Anyone that wants to playtest:
I’ve uploaded the latest version of the plugin, the one you have was just to show it works. To update to the latest please manually delete the whole WTactics dir in you Lackey-dir, and then go get the plugin again the usual way.
I’ve modified the card values etc to work with marking cards as payment, as suggest in the ORC, by lowering he cost for everyhing. I’d like to playtest them with the following:
* No AP:s, No VP:s, No shapes.
* 2 movements per turn / one movement per unit / no mark on movement
* 30 cards tops in deck
* Attack system as in ORC
* Random draws, only 1-2 cards per turn, and max 3 cards in hand.
Main idea is to see if anything in the orc is sane, and, in particular to see if that economical/payment system can actually work now that all prices have been heavily reduced and AP:s are gone etc. IF this works we’d take it from there and improve by figuring out win more conditions. If it doesn’t we maybe should ditch the idea of paying by marking cards and use the dice solution instead.
